Debunking the Moon god Myth

PROPAGANDA

“Is Allah the God of the Bible, or is Allah the moon god of ancient Arabia?”

“…much like “YHWH/Yahweh/Jehovah” is the personal name of the God of the Bible, “Allah” is also the personal name of the moon god, the chief among the three-hundred sixty pagan idols that were worshipped in Mecca, the home town of Muhammad.”

FACT CHECK:

This myth is easy to debunk with just one verse from the Quran which is shown below.

But first, Allah is not an ancient Moon-god, as the propagandists keep spreading (for decades). Muslim astronomers precisely studied the Moon’s movements because it was necessary for the Islamic calendar; the crescent moon marks the beginning and end of its months. The same was true in the Babylonian calendar.

If Allah is the Moon god, then how does these propagandists explain this verse 41:37 from the Quran itself, which Muslims believe is authored by Allah.

Multiple English translations of Quran 41:37:

Sahih International: And of His signs are the night and day and the sun and moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or to the moon, but prostate to Allah , who created them, if it should be Him that you worship.

Pickthall: And of His portents are the night and the day and the sun and the moon. Do not prostrate to the sun or the moon; but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if it is in truth Him Whom ye worship.

Yusuf Ali: Among His Signs are the Night and the Day, and the Sun and the Moon. Do not prostrate to the sun and the moon, but prostrate to Allah, Who created them, if it is Him ye wish to serve.

Shakir: And among His signs are the night and the day and the sun and the moon; do not prostrate to the sun nor to the moon; and prostrate to Allah Who created them, if Him it is that you serve.

Muhammad Sarwar: (Some evidence of His existence) are the night, day, sun, and moon. Do not prostrate before the sun and the moon, but prostrate before God Who has created them if you want to worship Him alone.

Mohsin Khan: And from among His Signs are the night and the day, and the sun and the moon. Prostrate not to the sun nor to the moon, but prostrate to Allah Who created them, if you (really) worship Him.

Arberry: And of His signs are the night and the day, the sun and the moon. Bow not yourselves to the sun and moon, but bow yourselves to God who created them, if Him you serve.
